My work, just like the world we live in is constantly evolving and changing. My landscape work has developed out of the need to express what is happening in our world - and the implications of our actions on the planet! These rural landscapes deal with a multitude of environmental topics including urban sprawl and numerous global warming issues. I appropriate old quotes and re-invent the context to make topical artwork. I mimic advertising iconography from pre-1950, to establishes a ‘vintage’ visual look - as a reminder of ‘better days’ and this helps my work to remain accessible. I hope that my work entertains but also challenges people to re-assess their opinions about our values, our traditions and how we treat our environment.
