I have always felt that I had a bit of a political agenda with my paintings. Granted, it has always been a sugar coated version of politics, but each work dealt with woman’s issues, traditions or perhaps just modern manners. Lately my focus has widened. It may be ‘an inconvenient truth‘, but our world is changing. My newest series has evolved from this realization. My landscape work focuses on environmental and urban issues. I really believe it is important that we recognize the implications of our actions on the planet.
My work appropriates old quotes and re-invents the context to draw attention to current issues. I still mimic advertising iconography from pre-1950 to establish a ‘vintage’ visual look in my paintings. The unapologetically happy style enables my work to remain accessible, and helps diminish the political sting. I hope that my work entertains but also challenges people to re-assess their opinions about our values, our traditions and how we treat our environment.

“What do you get when you combine pre-1950’s
advertising imagery, old quotes and current landscapes?
You get Rob Croxford, more to the point, you get a Rob Croxford
painting, which is a wonderful thing to behold.”
Paint Blog, 2009
"Rob was so personable and made the process fun! He made exactly what I was looking for and I'm thrilled with the results! Thanks Rob!"
Shelley Hamilton, 2006
"Rob's design for my business cards was absolutely magical. He listened to my idea and added his wonderful creativity to create something really unique and beautiful. The end result was terrific!! What a pleasure it was to work with someone so talented and enthusiastic."
Tamsin Atherton,
"(Rob’s paintings are) like little intellectual bon-bons."

“I stared longingly at many of Rob’s paintings for quite some time but being both an artist and a new home owner made it extremely difficult for me to purchase any. After meeting Rob at the 2007 Nathan Phillips Outdoor Art Show he offered me a deal I couldn't refuse, from one artist to another, he let me pay in installments!! And so I did and it was easy and now I own a magnificent painting that sits in my living room. People are always asking where I got it - they LOVE it! Thank you Rob.”
Rochelle Wilson, 2008
"It’s work good enough to steal!”
Unknown, 2004
"Rob did a smashing job of gathering my ideas, adding his own elements and translating the lot to canvas. He moved from an initial outline to the final product without a hitch, and the piece was as fresh and crisp as I had imagined. From start to finish, working with Rob was a pleasure."
Daniel Fabiano, 2006
"The painting I got from Rob is amazing! I love the colors, the images, everything! So you can tell whoever will listen that you are an absolute hit in Los Angeles!"
Jeffrey Dean, 2006
"Being fans of Rob's work, we were especially excited when he agreed to help us with our logo. That being said, Rob surpassed all of our high expectations. We provided Rob with our ideas and, within a few days, he had a draft of the logo e-mailed to us that brought our ideas to life (but actually looked far better then anything we had visualized). Rob was great to work with and asked for our input each step along the way. In addition, he's very down to earth and surprisingly unpretentious."
