This series has developed out of my Etiquette Series. I have always loved tin toys, they are great to collect - and what better way to justify a collection, than to use them as subject matter? Like the Etiquette Series, this work uses quotes and through irony, word puns and satire, re-invents or reinforces the subject matter. I still mimic traditional advertising iconography from pre-1950 to establish the ‘vintage’ visual look of these paintings. This series is a lot of fun, and gives me the opportunity to use colour as boldly as I like!
