"Mixed Message" Series
2010 - current
My "Mixed Message" series started as assemblages - comprised of imagery from my catalogue of completed paintings printed on transfers, and then reassembled the pieces to create 9" x 6" shadow boxes. This series quickly morphed into the version of the current work - which is exclusively hand painted pieces. They still look like assemblage - but they are not. I really enjoy the challenge of painting different subject matter in my own fun and silly way. See my current stock HERE!

"Poster" Series
(formerly "Sign of the Times" Series)
2010 - 2018
Canadians are a modest lot! We seldom extoll the virtues of our cites and neighbourhoods.....until now! (You're welcome!) These pieces have been designed & painted to look like vintage travel posters & billboards! Within each piece, the imagery has been designed specifically to mimic iconography and ephemera from pre-1950....BUT it is all my design and is ALL hand painted. To buy limited edition prints of these go to my store!

"HOMOnym" --
inspired by my "Mixed Message" Series
2017
I created this slightly naughty new exhibition for Nuit Rose (a festival of queer art and performance) June 16th. These paintings are an extension of my Mixed Message Series and they use word play to illustrate the pejorative gay slang I heard in my youth. Back in grade school words like “ homo”, “fairy” and “fag” were labels that held real power. As a gay adult, we find new slang expressions that kinda also alienate and divide the LGBTQ community. By exploring these labels in a clever and whimsical way, I hope to reveal their pointless nature by removing that power. Making these phrases seem trivial helps us question the need for such labels even within the LGBTQ community.
"Urban/Landscape" Series
2007 - 2018
My Urban and Rural Landscapes address both environmental and urban issues. I believe it is important that we recognize the implications of our actions on the planet. I also see the importance of capturing the changing landscapes – so that my paintings serve as a sort of visual catalogue of the past.

"Arcade" Series
2010
My Arcade Series is a natural extension of my Tin Toy Series. These works were my first mixed media works. Like my other series’ these works used my ‘signature’ wordplay while exploring the aesthetics of vintage arcade games. I have repurposed found materials to create the spectacle of the pinball machine. The combination of flashing lights and imagery evokes the extraordinary worlds of the Arcade, while nudging themes from today’s pop culture.

"Pin-up" Series
2012
A VERY short lived collection of paintings based on bombshells from the 30's-50's.

"Tin Toy" Series
2006-2011
These were paintings of tin toys and robots with my favourite quotes.
My 2008 exhibition "Wisdom from A-Z" - an exercise in whimsy. Each of brightly coloured – vintage themed canvases represents a letter of the alphabet. For example, the “B” canvas depicts a Bowling Ball and a quote from George Ball! The “C” canvas depicts a Croc Shoe and a quote from CoCo Chanel!
I can still do commissions from this series - if you are interested!

"Etiquette" Series
2005-2007
This series was a natural extension of my "Fairytale" Series. This time the quotes were sourced from vintage etiquette books. Books like ‘Miss Manners’ were used to illustrate ‘the best way to live’
or ‘the best decisions to make‘. They were designed to teach us lessons and reaffirm the societal
beliefs of the time. I enjoyed this series a lot - it was YEARS before the #metoo movement. I guess I like to consider myself a trailblazer!

"Fairytale" Series
2003-2005
A vintage inspired LGBTQ fairytale series. In the past, Fairytales were used to teach us lessons. This collection takes the old text and through irony, word puns and satire, re-invents the often-outdated subject matter to draw attention to current issues. By juxtaposing current themes against these old beliefs, I hope to challenge both traditional and modern values.
"Deco" Series
2003
Inspired heavily by Art Deco (and horribly derivative!) It all had to start from somewhere, right?
