As many of you know, I started my painting career the tender age of 18, as a Scenic Artist, painting scenery for film and stage!) I was in this industry for a decade before starting my fine art business. For many years, I have been longing for those "good old days" (when I got paid so damn little for so MUCH work)! Over the past 4 years, I have had a number of large scale installation ideas that I just never completed - because I have been too busy selling art! Truthfully, I have been kinda reluctant to take on something so huge and scary. But then, no risk, no gain, am I right? When we moved into our current home at Studio 102, we had the luxury of having a gallery space in the front of our work studios. We usually do art exhibitions, but it seems like the perfect time for something different...and if not NOW - in the middle of a pandemic.....then WHEN??
So with the help of my studio mates I am jumping into the world of installation! This new work is collaborative, which is super exciting! It means that we have THREE brains to figure out the 'how' of creating some cool art installation pieces! It also means, that each installation is different from the last...and that too is SUPER EXCITING!

"IDENTITY THEFT"
"Identity Theft": a Studio 102 Installation
June 23 & June 25, 2022, Studio 102 - 100 Sunrise Ave, Toronto.
“One realizes that without his clothes a man would be nothing at all; that the clothes do not merely make the man, the clothes are the man; that without them he is a cipher, a vacancy, a nobody, a nothing… There is no power without clothes.” - Mark Twain
What we wear is an expression of who we are, our clothes are the canvas we present to the world.
The four artists of Studio 102 will explore the ways in which they have been denied that form of expression.
With AMAZING sculptural works by ME and my Studio 102 studiomates:

"12 Days of Christmas" Holiday Installation:
Our first installation in our front gallery was a special holiday LOCKDOWN treat! The artists at Studio 102 created an over-the-top Art Installation that was meant to be a bright light in a very dark Christmas season! The installation was full of humour and coloured lights and music! Our "12 Days of Christmas" installation was up for TWO NIGHTS only...December 9th and 11th, 2020. Because we were locked-down, we designed this holiday installation so that you can just drive up and look in the huge windows of our front-gallery space (or as long as there is social distancing you could walk up to the window to peer in at this crazy installation!) Check out the photos and VIDEO below! |
