HEY FRIENDS! So...I KNOW I promised a bunch of new land/cityscapes to you guys....but I have really been feeling the love for my robots! I am hoping to have a whole show of new robots to debut SOMEWHERE later this year....or maybe next year?? IF YOU KNOW of a place that my space themed stuff would be a perfect fit....I would LOVE to hear from you! IN THE MEANTIME.....enjoy this new bot..... I am trying to scale back the amount of BUSYNESS in my paintings... I was hoping I could make this work without having to paint every area of the canvas board..... NEGATIUVE SPACE is HARD for me...I am just NOT a "less is more" kinda guy....I'm more of a MORE IS MORE kinda guy!! BUT....see what you think.... .....I kept adding details - because I found it so boring - and my husband would keep giving me advice on SCALING back! SO GLAD to have had his help (and that I don't have to pay him)! ;-) HERE is the final bot (sorry for the watermarks - I'm paranoid) :-)  "Redefine Success", 24" x 36", Acrylic on Wood, 2017 AWESOME......right?????

GOOD MONDAY! I am working away at the new studio, getting new stuff done for the upcoming show season! I have 6 new paintings ready to paint!! Look for more and more this month! Here is my recently completed painting from the Tin Toy Series... I showed you how it started...read about that HERE! "Robots Gone Wild" is a 36" x 24" canvas. It is based on those old 1950's magazines that you KNOW I am in love with. I tried to use some different colours on this one. I am not a huge fan of the colour orange, but here I think it works pretty well. I also tried to be a smarty pants about the HORRIBLE USD-CAD currency exchange. Here is MOST OF the process of completion... ...and then I forgot to take photos.....OOOPS! Here is what you missed - finishing the robot and the other bits - my dry brush white and spatter coat - my sepia was on the WHOLE piece - to age the look and 'tone it down' a bit! - adding coloured washes - adding the folds and rips - last minute highlights THEN....the final image:  "Robots Gone Wild", 36" x 24", Acrylic on Canvas. I think he turned out pretty good. Yes...for those of you who love robots but can't afford original art, there WILL be a print of this guy in the next couple months! Oh....and here is a sneak peak of the piece I am finishing currently.....I am about 1 day from finishing it - the photographing it!!!  ....so more on this one later this week!!
